Corgi toys were first released in 1956, often known as the ones with the Windows due to the innovation of having plastic windows.




They were made by Mettoy, founded in the 1930s and based in Wales, as a competitor to Dinky’s popular super toys.

By 1959 boots and doors opened and suspension was added, known as glidamatic

Corgi also produced a number of highly successful TV and film related models from the 1960s onwards, most notably related to James Bond.

Today these are of interest to the collectors of film and TV memorabilia as well is corgi collectors.

All toys are known by their model numbers, which helps to date and identify them, however some numbers were used for more than one model and numbers do not run consecutively or in date order.

Versions and variations added excitement to the hunt and diversity to a collection.
Look for rare colours different interiors for other variations such as cast wheels or whizz wheels, as these can often be more valuable.








Super detailing kits were sold in the 1960s and included window stickers, how ever these additions will devalue the toy.

Where alternative prices are given, they are for models in mint and complete packaging.

If the condition is less than mint, then sadly the value will be too.




Condition must be considered due to the large number of models produced..
 Many were played with and became worn or damaged.

Unless rare they will not be so desirable to collectors. Scratches and operations will devalue the toy. Boxes are essential to get the best prices and must be in excellent condition too.
