Sindy, the doll you love to dress, was designed by Dennis Arkinstall and issued by Pedigree dolls company in 1962.
The first weekend outfit of jeans/sweater was created by
London designer foale and tuffin.
And the dolls major selling point was a range of fashionable
clothes.
Beginning with short hair, Cindy Lou longhair circular 1968
and begin to part it on the side in about 1970 she developed more flexible and
fully jointed body and adopted a centre parting.
In 1974, Sindy’s face and body was slimmed down and the same
year saw the launch of the ballet dancer are active Sindy.
She was produced in various versions, was to prove a popular
series in 1978, Cindy was launched in the USA and distributed by marx toys, and
from 1981 by Wesco.
In 1986 Pedigree again remodelled Sindy giving her smaller
eyes and a slimmer face bringing to an end, many enthusiasts, golden age of
Sindy.
Sindy was produced by Hasbro and began to resemble Barbie,
and was now being sold by Mattel and and as a result she was moved from
American stores.

Today the Sindy name
is owned by vivid imaginations and the
dollar is only marketed in the UK.
