Pelham puppets was founded by Bob Pelham in 1947 after his wartime service.

The earliest puppets came in brown boxes complete with flying pig logo a reference to a comment from bob pelhams father who, although he’d helped finance the setup of the business said that pigs will fly before Bob makes a success of it.

By 1950, however, over 40,000 puppets have been sold and Bob had started the popular pelpup club, in order to encourage children to become involved in puppetry.

Pelham puppets flourished in the 1950s and 60s but by the late 70s business was in decline and the original company closed down in the 1990s.

Prices into today’s market have dramatically declined , I have seen 1970s puppets boxed in mint condition selling at car boot sales for £20 $30, the best examples, at the moment to buy for investment are the Disney related character puppets
